Weekend topic

- What cancelled tv show (within the last couple of years) do you wish they'd bring back? Invasion

- Are you a leader or a follower? I wouldn't consider myself a natural born leader but I can rise to the occasion. Mostly, I do my own thing and don't pay attention to who maybe leading or following.

- From which family member did you get your gloriously good looks? My mom had dark eyes and olive skin (as I do) but people tell me I look like my dad who had blue eyes and light skin. My final answer is... a little of both.

- What's the nerdest thing you've ever done? I went to see The Righteous Brothers years ago. Here's the nerdy (and embarrassing) part: Helen Reddy played first, followed by Kenny Rogers. A few of my friends were going so I thought it might be fun (proof I'm a follower?).

- What, at this exact moment, is the memory that makes you smile? Quick - the first one that that pops into your head. My pup, Hyde, and how he wakes me up every morning and won't let me go back to bed until I give him his bisquit. Then there's Jekyll who won't let up until I let him go outside so he can bury his.

- If you could have given advice to yourself when you were 10, what would that have been? To always be true to yourself (and not be a follower?). I'm starting to see a pattern here.

- What is one random fact about you that no one could guess by looking at you? That despite my dark circles, that go all around my eyes, including my eyelids, that I have not be up for 3 days (nor am I part raccoon).

- Tell us something we don't know about you. Went to the coolest party last night. Huge house, worth a few million, decent band, great food, open bar (naturally). Just all around fun.

- What are you doing this weekend? Working, of course. Going to my sister's house after work on Christmas Eve. My whole family will be there. My brother and his girlfriend, who has ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) are sleeping over my house that night. It's a lot of work but she's worth it and I'm happy to have her. I'll be heading over to my brother's house on Christmas Day where I'll see most everyone again.

Weekend Topic

- What is the most embarassing song that you STILL know all the words to? I think I love you, by The Partridge Family
- Do you have a sweet tooth? No, not too much
- What particular sound annoys you the most? Snoring!!
- Name something you do regularly that you really dislike? Wake up early to go to work.
- Name a famous figure in our nation's history for whom you feel everyone should know about? There's a lot of names running through my head right now. I'll go with Abraham Lincoln.
- For $1 million would you be willing to never again see or talk to your best friend? No, friendship means too much to me but I may second-guess myself every now and then.
- What food item would need to be removed from the market altogether in order for you to live a healthier, longer life? I don't really know. I eat very little junk food.
- Tell us something we don't know about you. I have my motorcycle license.

Daily Topic 12-14

1. What color are your eyes? brown

2. Have you ever been to Washington, D.C.? yes, a couple of times and loved it.

3. Have you ever written a letter to Santa Claus? I don't think so but may have back when I believed.

4. Have you ever CRASHED a party.... if so, we want details... Yeah but nothing exciting enough to retell. I have weazeled my way into plenty of private and not so private after-hours bars. There's plenty to retell there but I'll be good and stick to the topic.

5. Do you have a tattoo? and it would be where??????? Yes, I always swore off tattoos. Why would someone want to ruin their skin? No way was I ever getting one. Well, one fine day, I was strolling in NYC with some friends. At the time, tattoos were still illegal to get there but there were lots of fake tattoos you could buy. I bought some roses and put it around my wrist. That did it. I was sold. The next day at work, everyone thought it was a real tattoo. I 'fessed up it was fake but said I was getting the real thing done that night. No one believed me. Sure enough, that night I went and got a ring of roses tattooed around my wrist. I've never understood why people get tattoos in places that no one can see them. Mine is my permanent bracelet. And yes, it HURT.

6. In your computer Address Book, where is the furthest place a person lives? Florida

7. Have you ever sung KARAOKE? Yes and as a good friend once said to me, you don't only sing, you perform (lol).

8. Have you ever quit a job? (No just yes or no....tell us about it.) I assume you mean quit-on-the-spot type quit. Yeah, I did that once. My boss asked me if I could work late. When I said I couldn't, he asked why (which was none of his business). I told him that I had to go to my niece's birthday party. He said that as a flimsy excuse and that he was going to give me a warning, for what I don't know. I said ok, but I'm going to quit if you give me one. Well, he wrote something up and I said, ok, I quit and walked out. He called me the next day and asked me to come back but I didn't. I was very close to my niece and unless something happened that was out of my control, there was no way I was going to miss her birthday party. I was in college and living at home which made it easier for me to quit.

9. What's your favorite cologne? Obsession

10. What color is the car you presently dirve? bright red, my favorite color.

The Night the Princess Died

I was watching Saturday Night Live and they interrupted the show and announced that Diana had been in an accident. I thought it was part of the show and was waiting for the punchline. After several minutes, I started thinking it might be true. I recall praying that she would be ok as they hadn't announced her death. I was way more affected by it than I thought I'd be. It's like I couldn't imagine the world without her.

(1) Do you play lotto? Once in a while I do but since I usually forget check to them, it doesn't do me a lot of good. I may have won for all I know. I always join at work if we have a pool. I would be so disappointed if my co-workers won and I wasn't included.

(2) If you have played have you ever won anything? Years ago, when it first came out. There weren't as many numbers so it was easier to win.

(3) If you were to win, for fun what would you do? Besides have a wicked party? Travel as far and wide as my money will take me.

(4) With all the celebrities which one would you like to Party/go out on the town w? I'll have a go with George Clooney. He seems like the kind of guy that knows how to have a good time.

- What T.V. show do you love but are embarrassed to admit it? Sabrina, the Teenage Witch maybe? I guess that's not embarrassing enough, huh? Ok, I'll 'fess up. I like to watch 'Cathouse'. It's a series on HBO about the prostitutes that work at the Bunny Ranch, which is, as you would suspect, a House of Prostitution located in Nevada. Their lives fascinate me. I suppose it's because their lives are so opposite of mine.

- Are you a procrastinator? The best.

- What is your homepage set to on your computer? thehuffingtonpost.com

- Which emotion do you think is the most dangerous? Jealousy

- What is the single biggest time-waster in your life? I waste more time searching for things that I've misplaced than anything else.

- If you could visit only one more place in the world that you have never been, where would you go for this final voyage? I'm going with Tahiti but that is subject to change after I read everyone else's answers.

- What topic can put you to sleep quicker than any other? I'm interested in just about everything. It's more how a topic is presented than anything else. Yes, I know. I so didn't answer the question. I can't think of one right now but I may have to 'me to' someone else's answer.

- Tell us something about you that we don't already know. I'm left-handed.

- What are you doing this weekend? I'm working, as usual. I have to venture out after work tonight. My pal is having a birthday party for none other than her 15-year old Cockatiel. If she wasn't one of my dearest friends, I'd chalk it up as being to silly to attend. What do you get a bird that has everything?

Winter/Christmas

1) In this cold weather do you prefer hot chocolate or apple cider? Perhaps a nice hot toddy?

2) Which do you like best, turkey, tofu or ham? Any good recipes? I'll go with the spiral ham

3) Do you get a fake or real Christmas tree? Why do you have the one you use? Convenience? Tradition? I don't put up a tree because the pups would destroy it. Back when I did buy a tree, it was real.

4) Do you put decorations on the outside of your house? Fess up!! Do you go all-out, are you a minimalist, or are you Scrooge? Is not having any decorations considered Scrooge? Like I was saying with the tree, the pups get into everything.

5) Do you go outside for snowball fights or sledding? I have but not in a long time. I used to love when it snowed growing up because for some reason, it brought out all the kids in the neighborhood. Lots of snowball fights and sledding and snowmen.

6) Do you enjoy going downtown for shopping? They've been trying to revitialize our downtown for years. With the malls, there aren't all that many shops downtown so I hardly go.

7) What is your favorite Christmas song? Winter Wonderland

8) What is your least favorite Christmas song? The chipmonks.

9) How do you feel about Christmas movies? Do you have a favorite? I like the original Miracle on 34th Street, which was playing over and over on AMC this week. I also like the Christmas Story. I watch as much of the marathon as I can. My personal favorite has always been The Bells of St. Mary.

10) When is it too early to start listening to Christmas music? Before Thanksgiving

11) Do you open the things in the stockings before or after presents? Haven't opened stockings in years but I believe it was before.

12) Carolers, do you or do you not watch and listen to them? I've never had any come to the house.

13) Do you or have you ever gone caroling? Did people listen to and watch you? No, I've never gone. I recall the nuns used to organize a caroling every year but walking around in the freezing cold and singing in front of strangers' houses wasn't my idea of a good time.

14) On Christmas day, do you go to someone else's house or they come to you? We all go to my sister's on Christmas Eve and then to my brother's house on Christmas Day.

15) Do you read the Christmas Story? Our newspaper publishs the biblical story every year on Christmas Eve so yes, I do read it.

16) What do you do after presents and dinner? chit chat, play with the kids and their new toys

17) What is your favorite holiday smell? whatever's in the oven

18) Which would you rather do – ice skate or walk around the mall? I haven't ice skated in years so I'll take the walk around the mall.

19) Do you open a present or presents on Christmas Eve, or wait until Christmas day? Christmas Eve

20) Tell us about your favorite Christmas memory. I always liked going to Midnight Mass.

21) If you don’t celebrate Christmas, do you celebrate anything around this time of year? No, Christmas is it.

22) What is your favorite part about winter? snow

23) What is your least favorite part about winter – other than the snow and the cold, if that’s what you have in your neck of the woods? The shorter days and the bare trees.

24) Tell us the truth, have you ever been kissed under mistletoe? I'll have to go with a yes.

I'm hoping my holiday spirit kicks in soon.

My problem is that I can only shop when I'm under pressure. If I have plenty of time, I spend forever deciding what to get someone. When I'm pressed for time, I whip through the stores - yep, yep, yep and it's all done. My family jokes about me shopping so last minute. They've also said that I give the best presents. I'm so thinking my strategy is working.

Onto the questions:

went ice skating? Way over 30 years ago.

thought about an old love? Strangely, just this morning, I was thinking about my old boyfriend who passed away many years ago. He wanted to get married but he was ill at the time and I couldn't bear the thought of being a widow.

were really ill? Years ago, when I was in college. I had to miss all my final exams. I had the flu, bronchitis and a sinus infection. Between the three, I couldn't even stand.

roasted a marshmallow? Maybe 25 years ago.

received a phone call that was a wrong number? Yesterday, on my cell phone.

had your stocking filled by Santa? Not for a lot of years.

When E.T. came out, I took my two nieces. They were like 3 and 6. When E.T. got big, my younger niece cried. She was so afraid of him. She kept saying little E.T. is good but not big E.T. Then with the sad ending, my older niece burst out crying. That was one stressful movie for me. My earliest memory of going to the movies was watching Bambi while sitting on my dad's lap. We'll have to have a cyber ice skating, roasting marshmallows party. I'm so sorry you were a widow at such a young age. If I had to do it over, I would have married my old beau but I was too upset and afraid at the time. As far as the exams are concerned, I was able to make them up but I always felt like my professors didn't believe I was sick. It was such a convenient time but it was all true. For the stockings, I would just have to hang them really high, like off the ceiling, for the pups not to get them.

Weekend Topic

- If those who know you best gave you one piece of advice, what would they say and would you do anything about it? To not be so picky about who I date. No, I won't do anything about it. Hungary people make the worst shoppers.
- Are you organized? Bwahahaahaha. Oh, sorry. That would be a no.

- How would you define culture? Music, dance, traditions - especially those that are passed down from generation to generation.

- If you could hear what someone is thinking for a day, who would you choose? If it could be a dog, I'd choose Hyde, my crazy pup. For a person, I would choose President Bush. Oh wait, he doesn't do any thinking. I'll choose that loser I was dating with whom I had the pleasure(?) of speaking to recently.

- Lets say a brick fell on your foot, and a child is standing next to you, what is your 'cleaned up' swear word? In this case, it would probably just be Owwwwww. Otherwise, 'freakin' or 'friggin'. Nope, there's nothing original there.

- You are offered an envelope that you know contains $500. You are then told that you may either keep it or exchange it for another envelope that may contain $5000 or may be empty. Do you keep the first envelope, or do you take your chances with the second? I like living dangerously. I'd go for the $5000.

- Tell us something about you that we don't already know. I love the movie 'NationalVelvet'.

Holiday Season

1. Have you ever done an Advent calendar? What kind was it?
I think I was in sixth or seventh grade and we learned about Advent in my Religion class. I was so amazed that I hadn't heard of Advent before. I think I'm still amazed by it. If you knew how Catholic I was raised, you'd know why. Ok, so to answer the question, no, I've never done it.

2. When you go to holiday celebrations, do you just wear dressy clothes or do you wear clothes with holiday decorations on it? Dressy clothes. I'm not into holiday decorated clothes.
3. Do you wear holiday themed jewelry? What's your most unusual piece? No, I don't wear any holiday themed jewelry.
4. Eggnog, yea or nay? A big fat NAY!

5. Ever roast chestnuts on an open fire? No, I never have. My sister said my aunt used to do them when we were young but I don't remember.

6. Are the ornaments on your tree mostly handmade, heirloom, Hallmark, or a hodgepodge? Ok, I'm going to sound bah-humbaggish here but I never put up a tree. My dogs would have it knocked down in minutes and they'd be eating the tree and the ornaments and it would just be a big mess.

7. What sits on top of your tree? See above.

8. Are you on Santa's nice or naughty list this year? It depends on how close Santa's been paying attention. I've got my fingers crossed. Dare to dream.

More getting to know you questions

1. Do you have any pets? Fell free to gush. Yes, I do. I have two doggies who were littermates, Jekyll & Hyde. They are shepard/husky mix. They are extremely competitive with each other. They are also gorgeous and I love them like crazy. I also have a most beautiful kittie named Katie. She's shares my heart with the pups.

2. How many people are in your immediate family? Feel free to gush about kids and loved ones. I have 3 sisters and 4 brothers. I have a bunch of nieces and nephews and a most beautiful grandniece.

3. Where do you live and what is your favorite thing about your hometown? I live in Connecticut. What I like about this city is the beautiful architecture. Many of our buildings were designed by the famous architecture firms of the day. I also like the large number of Victorian homes and other older houses.

4. Are you looking forward to the holidays Why or why not? I always look forward to being with my family. We're a loud bunch. Someone's always telling a joke or a story. Everyone in the family is all grown up except my youngest niece and nephew, who are 10 and 8 and my grandniece who is two. We all put our efforts into making it extra special for them.
5. Do you get stressed out around this time of year? No, but I could live a perfectly happy life without them. I just like getting together with everyone and that can be done without a holiday.
6. Do you have ''winter'' in your area? What is the weather ''suppose'' to be like or are you experiencing strange weather? Yes, we have winter. Like the others, it's been unseasonably warm. It's supposed to be in the mid-60s today.
7. What was your favorite subject in H.S.? English
8. Did you go to college? Good experience or not? Stayed home or dormed? I had a good time in college but I switched majors so many times, it took me longer than 4 years to graduate. I drove to New Haven every day which is about 1/2 hour away.

Work Holiday Parties

(1) Do you enjoy going to Christmas/Holiday parties? Of course, I'm always up for a party.
(2) What do you usually drink when you go to one of these parties? I usually have a few. Thankfully, my drunken obnoxious days are long over. Plus, I would never want to embarrass myself in front of my co-workers. They'd never let me live it down.
(3) Have you ever attended a work party and someone you work with got out of control? drunk, just rude..etc.... what happened? At my last job, we used to go away for a weekend each year. One of my married co-workers hooked up with one of the single guys. She was drunk and she made it all so blatantly obvious. Making out in the lobby and then taking off for hours. She ruined it for everyone because the company never had anything after that. A few years later, she started having an affair with another one of the single guys at work. Hubby found out so he soon became ex-hubby. She lives with the guy now. I thought that was a terrible example for her to set for her kids (twin daughters). Another time at the company picnic, a married guy was trying to hook up with this married woman. She didn't want to have anything to do with him but he kept it up for hours. He made a big jerk of himself. Oh wait, I just thought of another one. We had this conference at a hotel. I had to leave early for some reason but everyone else went to the bar. I don't know the levels of drunkeness, I just know that my friend hooked up with the president of the company. He was very good-looking but he was also very married. We also worked with her boyfriend and he was right there for it all. I guess the two of them disappeared and the boyfriend went looking for them. He knocked on the president's hotel room door and guess who comes out? Yep, that was the end of those two. I just thought of some more. I could be here all day. The good thing is that it was never me.
(4) Do/did you ever buy a gift for the boss,co workers, secret santa? Yeah, except I don't think we ever did secret Santa. Our Santas were all out in the open.
(5) Did you ever receive a gift from someone at work that you loved/hated? please tell us? Yeah, probably just about all of them unless it was from a co-worker that was a good friend.

More Movie questions

1.) Favorite "bird" movie? 'The Birds' is the only film I think I've seen that actually had birds in it. Alfred Hitchcock never disappoints. That movie freaked me out. My favorite movie with a bird in it's title is a tie between 'One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest' and 'To Kill a Mockingbird'. I've never seen 'March of the Penguins' but it sounds wonderful.
2.) Which of the Robert Altman's numerous films is your favorite? I'm going to say M.A.S.H. I enjoyed that movie plus I think it's the only movie I've ever seen of his.
3.) Who's your favorite cinematic submarine commander? This is really hard for me. I saw '20,000 Leagues under the Sea' like 30 years ago. I remember thinking it was cool at the time. I've seen parts of U-571 but not enough to have an impact on me. I remember watching 'Yellow Submarine' about 30 years ago too but I don't remember a thing about it. 'Yellow Submarine' is definitely one of the Beatles' worst songs.

4.) Your favorite onscreen kiss? Rhett and Scarlett is the most dramatic. Here's a couple more that I thought were good - 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' and 'An Affair to Remember'.
5.) Jamie Foxx aside (too recent) What is the best visually-impaired performance? Can't say Jamie Foxx, huh? Let me think. I'll say 'Scent of a Woman'. The movie is so predictable but the first time I saw it, I found it sad that that was Al Pacino's last hurrah before killing himself. I haven't seen 'The Miracle Worker' since I was a little kid but I would imagine Patti Duke probably had the best performance.

- If your life were made into a television show, would it be a soap opera, a drama, or a sitcom? Taking the pups into consideration, I'll say sitcom.

- Are you type 'A' personality or type 'B' personality? Poster child for type 'B' personality.
- Define conflict. turmoil within yourself or between two or more opposing sides
- If you could have everyone in the world be just like you, would you? No, probably not
- You have two options: 1) To live a stable, comfortable life with little change, or 2) To live a wild life, full of drama. Which do you choose? Wild life, full of drama

- What age are you "at heart"? Depends on who I'm with and what I'm doing. I was no more than 10 years old on Thanksgiving when I was playing with my 8 year old nephew, my 10 year old niece and my 2 year old grandniece. I'm in my radical 20s when discussing politics and emotionally, I'm somewhere in my teens. An old lady probably fits in there somewhere, just not sure where.
- Tell us something about you that we don't already know. I have crowns on my front teeth from falling off my bike in fourth grade.

*** Yep, even I do it. I so didn't answer the 'what age are you at heart?' question. I answered it according to how I act. Wrong. I'll say my twenties.
