My Heritage

1) What is your nationality? Besides American? I'm 100% Italian. All four of my grandparents came from Italy.

(2) Where you named after anyone in your family,a friend, or someone famous, other? I was named after everyone in my family. I'm the youngest. (sorry, I couldn't resist). No, I wasn't named after anyone.

(3) Do you have a middle name? I sure do. It's Anne.

(4) Did you ever visit where your family history(ancestors) were from? if not, would you ever want to? No, I've never visited but I would like to go sometime. My sister-in-law thought it would be fun if we all went for my brother's 50th birthday but I'm not sure if we will. My grandmother left us all a lot of land. I'd like to see what I inherited and whatever became of it.

(5) If you have any stories please share with us, hope they are all good ones..

On the day of my dad's baptism, his dad got into an argument with the priest and went storming out of the church so my dad never got baptized. When he was 9 years old, my dad decided, all on his own, that he wanted to be baptized (that still amazes me). He went to city hall to get his birth certificate only to find out there was no registration of his birth. He was born in a house and I guess they never got around to it. My dad had to collect three signatures from people who could vouch for his birth. That's how he got his birth certificate. Having been in school all that time shows how lax they were back then. Just a couple more fun facts: When my dad was 9 years old (big year for him), his family got electricity. Also, I have the 1930 census record of my dad's family. One of the questions on it? Do you have a radio? If memory serves me, they did.

SAG Awards

The Office is indeed the best comedy on TV.

America Ferrara, thank you for sparing us the agony of another Desperate Housewives' win.

I wish, wish, wish I saw the cast of MTM. I love them all.

Weekend Topic

- What is the earliest TV show you can remember watching? I don't know what came before what but my best guess is Hazel.

- Describe your nightly routine before you go to bed? Let the dogs out. Feed Katie (my kittie) some of her food (she's on a diet so I give it to her in small doses). Let Hyde inside, if he hasn't already let himself in. Go outside to get Jekyll, who never comes in on his own. Go upstairs. Brush teeth. Turn on electric blanket. Turn on the ionizer and into bed I go. Then I wait for the dogs to settle into their positions on the bed.

- What is the most charming characteristic of your house or apartment? My brother told me the other day that he liked the antique look of my house. I do too. It's really just the living room going upstairs that is original. My kitchen definitely isn't. I love older homes but hate older kitchens.

- If you could create or eliminate one law, what would it be? I would let citizens collect a certain percentage of signatures to bring about impeachment proceedings for either the president, the vice-president or any other government position, regardless of whether a person was elected or appointed.

- If you were given an all expense paid trip to Antarctica, would you go? Yeah. I'd question my decision the whole time I suffered through the cold but would be glad I went when it was over.

- What is one item you own that you really should throw away but probably never will? The antique mantel clock that my dogs chewed and broke the front glass.

Golden Globes

1.) Regardless of the recent Golden Globe wins - who do you wish to see win the Oscar for Best Actor? Without having seen 'The Last Emperor of Scotland', I'll go with Forrest Whitaker. I saw an interview he gave about the movie. That combined with the previews won me over. I've always liked Forrest and thought he gave such a heartfelt thank you at the GGs. (BTW, every time I read GG I think the person is talking about me - lol).

2.) Best Actress? I'll go with Helen Mirren. Why, you ask? Because Helen Mirren didn't play Queen Elizabeth. Helen Mirren was Queen Elizabeth.

3.) Director? I'll go with Martin. He's due.

4.) Supporting Actor and Actress? I'll go with Mark Wahlberg. No reason. Haven't seen the movie. I just like him. Best supporting actress needs to go to Jennifer Hudson. She deserves it. Hands Down. I agree with Patem too. Jennifer should be in the lead actress category.

5.) Best Movie? From the previews, Babel looks really good so I'll go with that.

Stuff

- Name a popular or innovative electronic device that you either own or would consider buying. I saw this at Brookstone last night and I thought it was pretty nifty. It's called a 'Day Wireless Weather Watcher'. The device recognizes your location, connects to accuweather.com and displays the weather for the next five days.
- Name two popular TV shows that you watch. Desperate Housewives & Brothers and Sisters
- Name a politician you might consider when voting for president. Joe Biden
- Approximately how much is the price of gas where you live? I can't remember exactly but I think it's like $2.45 or so.
- What was the biggest story in the news this past week? No, this isn't the biggest story but I feel it was significant. Bush is ending his warrantless wiretapping. The White House claims it's because the length of time it takes to go through the court system has quickened. Yeah, right. Bush knows it was highly illegal and the Democrats would be able to challenge him on it.
- What is the newest or most recently released movie that you've watched (either at home or at the movies)? I saw 'Children of Men' the other day at the movies.
- Did anything noteworthy happen to you this week? If not, is there a memory or a story that you would like us to place in the virtual time capsule? A truck smashed into the back of my car the other day. It was a hit and run. I can drive the car but with no tail lights and a trunk that doesn't close, I need to get it fixed soon. No worries. Worser things could have happened.
- Is there anything else that you feel belongs in our time capsule? 3030 soldiers have been killed in the Iraqi War thus far and with President Bush planning to send more troops, there is no end in sight.

Weekend Topic

- If you could only watch one TV station for the rest of your life, which would it be? I'd probably pick our local ABC station. I'd get a variety of shows plus the news.
- Were you wild in your younger years or were you fairly tame? I'd have to go with wild.
- What famous person would you most want to be like? No one. I'm happy being me.
- If you were sentenced to a long jail term, who would you want your cellmate to be? Females must have female cellmates and males must have male cellmates. Lucy Riccardo because I know we'd escape.
-
If you found out a close friend's spouse had a brief affair that was over, would you tell your friend? A lot of factors would play into my decision but one thing is for sure, I would not protect the cheater. I would most likely not tell either unless the relationship was far too destructive for them to stay together.
- If you were to buy a item for yourself in a toy store, other than a game of some kind, what would it be? It has to be something for you to use. I think they sell skates in toy stores (not Kay-Bees, I know) so I'll go with in-line skates. I've been wanting to get a pair for a long time
- Tell us something we don't know about you. One of my dearest friends, who is a public defender, could have gotten my speeding ticket dropped scott free (prosecutor was willing) but he thought I needed to be taught a lesson. I had to give a $50.00 donation to a local charity. It was for a good cause and as far as learning my lesson, I have a long way to go there.

Books

1. So tell me what are you reading? I'm reading 'A Cup of Trembling- Jerusalem and Bible Prophecy'. I borrowed it from my brother thinking it might be interesting. I'm about 1/3 of the way through it. The guy keeps saying the same stuff, just worded differently, over and over.

2. Do you have a favorite author? Perhaps but I can't think of one right now.

3. Have you read any of the classics such as, Moby Dick, Tom Sawyer, Jane Eyre? I've read a lot of them. I've read Tom Sawyer and Jane Eyre. I couldn't get beyond the first couple of chapters of Moby Dick. That's one hard novel to read.

4. What books have you read that were made into movies? Was the book better than the movie? I've read a bunch of books that were made into movies over the years. The book is always better.

5. What are some of your favorites that you can read over and over? 'The Catcher in the Rye' is a good one to read every few years.

6. What books are in your must read list? I went to see Jane Goodall last year at a local college and bought a couple of her books. I hope to read them next.
