Halloween

I absolutely love handing out candy. I live in a very family orientated neighborhood so I get maybe 200 kids or more. We never had many trick-or-treaters when I was growing up though.
I usually buy candy bars: Snickers, Reese's, Hershey, etc. I always buy Smarties too. The kids who come early get the most candy. As the night goes on, I start getting stingier and stingier trying not to run out.

This year sadly, I can't hand out any candy. I'm working 12 hours and I won't get home until 08:30 or so. The older kids will probably still be floating around. I hope no one stops by as I haven't bought any candy.

One year, I put up a huge sign, like a store might advertise. It said 'FREE CANDY - TONIGHT ONLY'.

Bin Laden's tape

What about the timing? Need we fear an 11-2? There is definitely some significance to the timing of this tape. I heard them say on TV last night that tapes like these are sometimes released before an attack. A man with a similar American voice was heard on a tape released shortly before 9/11. I pray the tape was only to influence the election and not for anything else.
Will this affect the election? Who knows? So many things that Bush has done wrong should have influenced the election but amazingly, they have not. Die-heart Bush supporters are not capable of believing that George W. Bush can actually do something wrong. After all, he opposes abortion and gay marriage. That means he's perfect.

What's on the missing 4 minutes? Al-Jazeera aired some but not all of the tape. I'd bet the only minutes made public were the ones that Al-Jazeera aired plus anything else the Bush Administration viewed as harmless. Al-Jazeera must have aired the part about the hijackers completing their mission while Bush was busy reading. I can't imagine that part being released otherwise. I'd say this administration has kept more from us than all the other presidencies combined. How he gets away with it is beyond me?

Bush's crazy reasoning for war

I am registered as an unaffiliated voter. Partisanship disgusts me too much to align myself with any one group but I consider myself to be significantly more liberal than conservative. For the most part I vote according to a candidate's past voting record, or experience if they are a newcomer, as well as their stance on the issues.

I come from a city in Connecticut whose past 3 mayors have been arrested, the last one for reasons so despicable he will most likely die in prison or be killed, if he is ever released to the general prison population. Even our governor, who hails from the same city, recently stepped down due to a corruption probe. Still, I've never been soured about our government until George W. Bush was elected (?) into office.

I was amazed when Dubya first came into prominence as a formidable candidate for presidency. What had he done prior to being Governor? I follow politics closely enough to know that experience does count for something. I could have never imagined that any elected official could do so much damage in such a short period of time.

9/11 saddened and frightened me like nothing else has or will again. I finally got the slogan, 'Remember Pearl Harbor' as we will always 'Remember 9/11'. What has Bush done to fight the war on terror?

We searched for Obsama Bin Laden but he's a rather sneaky guy and a little hard to find so we invaded his adopted country, Afghanistan. I'm not sure of what we gained from this but it did send a message that we will not tolerate the harboring criminals and that we meant business. Plus, we got a bonus - hundreds of detainees. Fortunately for us, a Northern Alliance existed in the country that allowed us instant soldiers with a passion to destroy the Taliban. Since the south has no such organization, the Taliban have regrouped or perhaps they were never dissolved.

Now what, asked Bush? What else can I do to win the war on terrorism? Gee, can't think of anything right nowbut doing nothing really makes me look bad. Hey, I have an idea. There is an old nemesis of my father's, Saddam Hussein, that lots of people had heard of and dislike. Saddam's mean and rotten. Terrorists are mean and rotten. Bingo! There's our connection.

Unspoken truths about Bush

I could never have imagined that one person could do so much damage to our country in the way that George W. Bush has. Please consider what I have written below.

NO ONE has ever ONCE spoken of this. WHY?

I have never once heard anyone speak of Bush's refusal to get involved in the Israeli-Palestinian Peace talks after becoming president. After taking office, Bush said flat out, I'm not getting involved. Huh? Why? Could it be because he couldn't grasp the issues, he doesn't care, it's not his job? Just what was it?

Now, does anyone remember what Al Quaeda said shortly after the attacks? They said it was because the United States hadn't been doing enough to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. They couldn't have been talking about Clinton or Bush Sr. Clinton worked very hard. Bush's father worked very hard. Bush did nothing. After being asked what he was going to do, he still did nothing.

Perhaps if Bush had continued the peace talks instead of doing nothing, 9/11 would have never happened.

NO ONE has ever ONCE spoken of this. WHY?

More unspoken truths:

Why doesn't anyone specifically state that Bush invaded Iraq to divert our attention from Bush's failure to capture Bin Laden?

Why doesn't anyone speak of Bush's personal vendetta against Saddam and how this influenced our invasion of Iraq?

Does Bush sleep at night?

How does Bush sleep at night? How can he say with a clear conscience that the world is safer? Did it ever occur to him, while we was making his correct decision to go to war, that bombing an Islamic country without provocation would make us more susceptible to an attack? Why has he never gone to one soldier's funeral?

I just get so fired up about Bush being wrong and insisting he's right. Since our first justification for the war was wrong (no WMD or connection to 9/11), he now says it's to spread democracy. Democracy, huh? Bush did everything possible to stop the democratic process in Florida in 2000. He should just tell the truth. We invaded Iraq because of the personal vendetta he had against Saddam since the criticism his father endured for lettng Saddam escape capture, not to mention the hit Saddam put out on his daddy.

Margaret Hassan, kidnapped in Iraq

I am particularly outraged at the kidnapping of Margaret Hassan, the director of CARE International in Baghdad, because of this woman's humanitarian efforts and because she IS an Iraqi citizen. The kidnappers must have hoped her notoriety would incite Britain or the rest of the world to do something.
We absolutely can not give in to the terrorists (it would only cause more kidnappings) but the Bush Administration can publicly denounce the kidnapping . Oops, that put the spotlight on Bush's pet project, his own personal unjustified war.

Bush claims the world is a safer place without Saddam. No, Mr. President, the world is much more dangerous. We have people like Abu Musab al-Zarqawi free to cross over from Jordan, gather a following, and bomb our troops. He then kidnaps innocent people to call attention to himself and to force out foreign troops. That's something coming from Zarqawi, who is a foreigner. Now Zarqawi has pledged allegiance and will only take orders from Al Qaeda. How does that make the world safer? Our invasion caused a deadly terrorist group to be created and more people to follow Obsama Bin Laden.

It's ironic that Bush says we are hunting the terrorist down in Iraq. Ha, what a joke. That's because he created a country of lawlessness that allows such terrorist groups to exist and with no one to stop them.

Theresa/Laura and a real job

What shall we attribute Theresa Kerry's statement about Laura Bush never having held a real job? Shall we blame Theresa's vast experience for making her so rough around the edges? I think finishing school would be a viable option for her? If so, I have the perfect teacher for her. One would needs a few more experiences to qualify for first lady.
